Bangkok Diary 1

So, I am back after a long hiatus. Covid had put everything on a backburner and now I hope it doesn't surface again. Here I am in Bangkok , enjoying a different life and henceforth call this my " BANGKOK DIARY ." I want to help tourists with my blog by telling them all they can do here with kids. Bangkok is a very nice place where people welcome you warmly and are very cultured. I find the hospitality similar to India though nothing can beat Indian hospitality. For people coming from India, the weather is like Mumbai or Singapore....

People are very warm and cultured but not everybody knows English....so you must get hold of someone who can speak English .... I have not used public transport so cannot tell much about it but the BTS, Taxi and TukTuk are very good options....

Best weather to be here is actually "anytime ":)...but if you can choose then December - March are great .

Stay....I would definitely recommend Shama Lake view to stay as it is in the best location of Sukhumvit Soi 16...the best eating places are walking distance , like a few steps away....The hotel is owned by a Japanese group.

New's is about 20 steps away and serves the best Italian food with great ambience indoors and outdoors. If you are celebrating any occasion then they sing for you on the guitar....its lovely

Famtime..is another 200m away and serves a fusion of yummy food...its always packed...

Coffee Club ...is on the Ground floor of Shama hotel and is so convenient ...they serve good food too

Cool Chilli...another restaurant on the ground floor of Shama hotel serves good food, thai and international

Lawson store for everyday needs is next to coffee club and Foodland is 200m away. Foodland has grocery, fruits and anything you need... It has a restaurant called Took-la-dee which serves fresh food

Mars de Marr is an excellent beauty salon opp Shama hotel and so are the two massage parlours...

If you like your morning and evening walks (like us ) , then the USP of staying in Shama is the spectacular Benjakitti Park across the road with a huge lake and fountains and multicoloured bouganvillas all around the lake....and a dog park next to it....I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bangkok because of all these facilities just a short walk away.... The park has more than a thousand lotuses blooming right now...

And...Terminal 21 mall too is 10 mins walk from here.

The hotel has electric carts to drop and pick you up....

Food is in abundance in Bangkok....please read my next post about food and then about where to shop, eat and also destinations near Bangkok you can explore other than Phuket and Pattaya...
